The Farm
Springfield Farm
Springfield is a working farm, with pedigree cattle, sheep and pigs. The cattle we breed are Highlands and Simmentals and the cows calve between April and June. We have pedigree Suffolk sheep and other commercial breeds with lambing starting in January and finishing in April.
Our pigs are Saddlebacks and love a good scratch! We are proud to have a high health status on the farm, meaning we comply with all animal health and husbandry legislation. We have a busy calendar year with sheep lambing, cattle calving, tractor work in the fields and bulls being prepared for shows and sales and lots more.
During your stay you might get to meet our Highland Cattle, say hello to our sheep or stretch your legs and take a walk along the bridle path round the farm.
We also sell our own meat from the farm and you will be able to buy a delicious meat pack to cook on your BBQ or in the kitchen at your POD.
Who are We?
We are Gavin and Anna Brown, owners of Springfield Farm, a beef and sheep unit, nestling near the Pentland Hills and we moved here in 2010.
We have twin sons, Josh and Logan, now nearly 3 years old. They love being out in the fresh air, meeting the new lambs and watching the tractors working in the fields.
Gavin and I both have farming backgrounds. I grew up in Ayrshire and formerly worked for the Clydesdale Bank. Gavin is the director of Sportsmasters UK, a company which builds sports pitches.
Moving forward, we have now decided to diversify into agritourism, initially with four holiday pods on site. We are looking forward to this new and exciting venture and to welcoming guests to share the beauty of our surroundings.
